Happy 9th Birthday Brock! He was supposed to be at school for his birthday (a field trip day at that!), but in preparation for the impending snow storm, Wake County Schools canceled school that Friday. He got a full day of Roblox and Nintendo Switch!
This is the second year that he asked for blueberry pancakes, sausage links, and Cracker Barrel fried apples for his dinner. Alas, our local CB was all out of fried apples, so I had to make my own. He informed me that he did like mine, but CB's was better. Oh well.
Brock asked for bath bombs from Papa and Nana - and they did not disappoint! He was so excited to get a pack of TWELVE with little toys inside. He saves them for special bath times and even at 2 1/2 weeks later writing this blog entry, he still has over half left!
He was thrilled to receive a very special Minecraft lego set - complete with THREE axolotls - from Grandpa and Grammy. He has been begging us for real axolotls - not happening kid. This was the next best thing.
Grandpa also treated him to a really cool robot build with remote control!
Great-Aunt Carol and Great-Uncle Jeff surprised Brock with some Chick-Fil-A gift cards and he received a most generous college check from Great Aunt Beverly!
Cake time!
Love the German birthday train from Brock's Godmother Katherin.
At the beginning of the school year, Washington Elementary arranged a birthday book event for the library. For a minimal donation, the school will purchase the book of your child's choice and add it to the school's library. The birthday child would be the first to check it out! Both my boys love this series by Chris Van Dusen!
Unfortunately, because of that 3" snow storm we received, we had to move Brock's original party date back one week.
Jackets off, masks up, socks on - we were ready to jump!
Brock invited all the boys from his third grade class, but only a few RSVPed. I get it. We are still in a pandemic. There were quite a few people in the building by the time we were called back to our party room for pizza! Brock's attendees included 4 kids from school, 1 brother, and 5 kids from children of my friends - his friends now too! :)
Brock still does not like the attention - even if everyone there were his favorite buddies. We didn't sing Happy Birthday - I just had everyone shout "Happy Birthday Brock" at the count of 3 - and he still ducked under the table.
Yummy cupcakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes made it a little bit better.
Happy happiest 9th birthday to my big boy Brock! He's most excited because now he gets to stay up later on the weekends. And he just recently went to his first sleepover at a friend's house!
