Brock is a creature of routine - he so loved his birthday last year, he wanted to do it again - plus one! He invited THREE friends for his birthday party sleepover. It worked out well - only two of the three friends could make the afternoon Dave & Buster's arcade fun and two of the three friends could sleepover. All were there for dinner and cake - the best part!
While the boys played, we enjoyed our drinks (plus one fancy light-up drink for Kade). We found a booth right next to their favorite game. The boys take this ticket thing seriously - I suggested a few games I knew they liked playing - "nope, that one doesn't give out as many tickets." They were only in it for the ticket haul!
Kade's entire BODY was into the game!
The Wicked Tuna game is by far their favorite. Too funny.
After much deliberation, the trio decided to each procure a stuffed-animal banana peel (like in Mario Kart) and how sweet it was that Brock shared some of his tickets as the other two didn't have the full 1,100 tickets.
After a nice dinner of cheeseburgers and fries (home-cooked!), Brock requested confetti Bundt cakes - worked out well - everyone had their own!
Candles in the German birthday train!
I'm so glad I kept the lid on all those bundt cakes....
It was a long night - the boys were up until midnight (they HAD to stay up for Brock's actual birthday, they explained). Then more Roblox gaming time while Brent and I knocked out pancakes, bacon and sausage before pickup at 10am!
Now that it was officially his birthday, time to open more presents!
Thank you Papa and Nana Phyllis!
Brock also received gift cards from Grammy & Grandpa and a few Roblox gift cards from his friends! Aunt Beverly sent a nice gift as well. Brock scored another set of joysticks and Super Smash Bros (a Nintendo Switch game) from us!
Lego set from Maddox & Asher... and Uncle Brian & Aunt Nancy :) |
Eleven years ago - cannot believe that he was once this small....
Eleven years old! Brock is 61" tall, placing him at 92nd percentile in height. He is still as solid as ever - one of those that does not realize his own strength - unless he's pitching a ball. A further example, Brock has a tendency to only single kick (at least part of the race) when he swims butterfly - but because of his upper body strength manages to keep up with the other boys his age while they double kick. (....one of these days when he really turns it on and double-kicks, it will be amazing!)
Brock is very sensitive; his brother easily knows which buttons to press to frustrate him. He very easily will feel like the world is out to get him, yielding big reactions to even the smallest issues. He highly values his quality alone time, listening to music while writing short stories or setting up legos.
The 11 year-old version of Brock draws his social strength and confidence from his friends. He has made such amazing friends at Washington Elementary and at Raleigh Swimming Association (RSA). We watch how happy and comfortable he is with his friends and we are thrilled for him. He is such a talker too!! One of his friends told me he is the most talkative of the group! How funny!
Happy 11th Birthday Brock!! We wish you a most wonderful year and love you to the moon!
