Brock's Swim Team Season 2019

Lifetime swam against Highcroft on June 25th and it was a tough meet!

Brock's summer camp traveled to Durham to watch the Durham Bulls play baseball - made for a long day for a six year old to go swim that evening too! He looked quite determined to give it his all!

Even with a tricky start off the block, he fought back to come in second!

He had a great backstroke, but the kid on the other team had an amazing kick. Brock secured second place again!

On July 2nd, we had another home meet against Clubworx. Lifetime hires a really awesome photographer to take pictures of the kids doing their thing (hence the watermarking).

I love this shot of Brock's competition checking out the soon-to-be first place winner!!  (Even the lady behind Brock is in awe of his dive!!) ;)

Video to prove it! Go Brock!!
And then his backstroke!

Great form!!

Brock's breaststroke! He's killing it!!

Brock's last meet was against Regency on July 16th. Kade and I skipped out on this one, but Brock did AMAZINGLY well and finished super strong!

Pulled in first place for freestyle....

And first place for backstroke - making him a double winner that night!!

The Lifetime Marlins "6 and Under Boys" group!

Brock, we are so proud of how much work you put in to your swimming this season. You listened to the coaches and gave it your all - winning hard and having fun doing it!! I hope you always have this much fun!

Because of his dedication, passion, and willingness to push harder, Brock was awarded the Golden Goggles at the end of season party! They only award it to one boy and one girl per age group - for "outstanding swimming performance, sportsmanship, attendance, enthusiasm, team spirit, and hard work"!! Good job Brock!!

SunFest at Dorothea Dix Park

After a long walk from the car, we cooled off with frozen ice!
Saturday, July 13th was a HOT day! High of 95 and of course Sun Fest started at 2pm - hottest time of the day!

I had heard the sunflowers weren't as impressive as last year, but they were still very pretty (just not as tall).

Glistening in the sun - HA! :)
Brock was on a mission to find a sunflower that had 5 bees on it.... we searched, but only found one that had four (not pictured - was never fast enough to take the photo).

One day he'll appreciate all these pictures I take of our adventures!

He had way more fun in the festival part - especially the inflatable axe throwing....

And WATER SLIDE!!

He went down about 6 times and was SOAKED! By the time we got in the shuttle back to our parking spot 45 minutes later, he was completely dry.
Raleigh Skyline in the background!
A quick lunch from the food truck Hot Chix! Chicken tenders wrapped with pancakes that you eat like a taco! We dipped ours in honey and Brock loved it!

Dragon Park and a Milestone for Brock!

It has been scorching here these past few weeks! We have a select few parks that are still in the shade.

Brock is in the middle of a little boy and a big kid.... he felt so sure when we walked up to this dragon that it was NOT real. Then I explained to Kade it has been sleeping here for so many years, the city built the park and grass hill all around it to keep him safe. Kade believed me, so then Brock started asking me questions - trying to figure out if what he thought was the truth. "Are you sure Momma?" "How old is the dragon?" "Why haven't the eggs hatched yet?" "Where is the dragon's home and why didn't it fly to its home to sleep?" Ha - at least I've got his little mind working! ;)

Dragon Park has a relatively new water spray area!! It's just a mist, but if you go in it enough times... you're definitely WET!

Sharing a ride on the swings!

Oh goodness is Brock living his best summer yet!

A few days later Brock made it to the library and received his first official Library Card!! I think he was the most excited he could put it in his wallet!

Happy Independence Day 2019!

We started the 4th of July long weekend off with Sparklers!!

Salem Street in downtown Apex closed to host the "Olde Fashioned Fourth of July" celebration. Just like last year, it was to be a HOT day - so we got there early to get a head start on the bounce houses!
Kade at the top!

Look at that face of pure joy!!

We bumped in to some friends and Brock was able to race his buddy Brady in the obstacle course!

Hey there! How did you guys switch sides?!?

The boys love to get their faces painted!

A rainbow spider for Kade!

And a red wolf's paw for Brock! (NC STATE!!!)

The boys took turns playing some carnival games.

Then it was water slide time!! (And goodbye water-based $3 face-paintings - HA!)

Toss the bean bag at the thief, compliments of the Apex Police Department. Haha!

By 10AM, we were done and happy and headed back to our pool to cool down.

What a delicious American dinner - cheeseburgers! This was Kade's first time eating an entire cheeseburger the "big boy" way.

We thought about venturing to Koka Booth to see the fireworks, but when the bottom fell out from the sky about 5pm, we knew we made the good choice to stay home! Mini-fireworks in our driveway and waited for some neighbors to light the real ones up when it got dark.

Brent decided Moose should come out and see what all the fuss was about so he wouldn't be scared/anxious/angry. I still think he was very angry about the noise and wanted to destroy them!

A very successful 4th of July! :)

And this was how I found the boys the following morning! Brock was reading books to Kade. (Every now and then there's a moment!)

A very happy 5th of July as Brent and I sent the boys back to camp/preschool and took our one day per year Adult-Only Boating Day on Jordan Lake. I even got a lesson in backing the trailer down the ramp! Brent gave me a C+. Yeah..... it's a lot harder than it looks!!

 Happy Birthday America!!
