Pisgah Forest Mountain Trip - Part II

Zipline time!! Brock told me this was his favorite part of the whole trip! He must have zipped over 50 times that weekend!

Kade showing off his shark rainboots!

Time to check out the pond. Maddox was a bit leery putting his feet in the pond, but okay about standing in the stream coming out!

He liked it so much, he wanted his bottle to experience it too!

Yummmm - chilled by mountain water!

Muddy Bum!!
Brent even spotted tadpoles in the pond!

"Mom!! Come look at this!!" Unfortunately there were signs everywhere not to stand on the waterfall stream - too slippery!

Brian was brave and ventured in, lifting Brock in after!
So cute - can you tell they are related?

Until Brian felt something bite his toe! Then it was time to get out! (The owner told us there are crayfish that live in the pond)

Haha, much safer!

The house had a great couch/tv space right off the kitchen for the boys to have some down time while the adults cooked and chatted!

The next day, the Eason quartet headed to Sliding Rock.

Holy cow was that water cold!! Brent chickened out and did not partake, but I went down twice with Kade, and Brock went down a third time solo!!

Brock making his solo run!!

I haven't been to this place in over 20 years, but I don't remember it so busy! Long line (with built in the stone guide rails), and built up with a wooden observation deck... and a $3 entrance fee per person.

After doing the slide, the boys wanted to explore the ankle-deep water.

A short downhill walk back to the truck - Kade score with a ride on Daddy's shoulders!

Gorgeous view of the valley on our way back to our mountain house! Hello Appalachians!! (Little mountains)

Cornhole!! For never having played before, Kade did pretty good!!

I missed out on the shot of all of them in the sandbox together! Super cute boys!

I think Brian had a nice time relaxing that weekend! ;)

The boys THOROUGHLY enjoyed making s'mores on the fire Uncle Brian built - especially the MASSIVE marshmallows!

Maddox seemed delighted for a little marshmallow taste too!! (Also - look at how he stands with his hands clasped behind his back - so cute!!)

It was a nice getaway trip since it has been so hot in Raleigh the past few weeks. I loved seeing the cousins all play together - Brock and Kade were really good with Maddox - wanting him to follow them everywhere "Look at me Maddox!" And apparently I did not need to bring any of our toys - Brock & Kade only wanted to play with Maddox's toys! Ha!

See you soon Rosenfeld's - Looking forward to celebrating your 2 year old birthday in a few short weeks, Maddox!!

Pisgah Forest Mountain Trip - Part I

We did a family weekend in the mountains with Brian and Nancy and Maddox!! So much fun!
That was some cold water!!
Our families rented an Airbnb in Pisgah Forest, near Brevard, and it was the cutest mountain home! Large property with zipline (will show later), waterfall, pond and fire pits!
Brent's drone picture!

On Friday, we ventured over to the Sierra Nevada Brewery, about a 30 minute drive. It was a really nice space for adults and kids - large green area for the boys to run around, botanical garden and a sand play area!

Spying on the copper vats to make the beer!

Enjoying a nice lunch

Brent and Brian hanging out behind the Taproom

Maddox was having fun exploring and picking up all sorts of rocks - the big boys loved the challenge and found a nice rocky trail to collect ALL the rocks for their little cousin!

Beer Samplings

Some of us napped on the way to our next destination...others stayed napping.... aka Kade! :) Since Maddox is ALL about rocks, Brian & Nancy thought he would love Crystal Mountain Gem Mining! We split the Motherlode bucket (3.5 Gallon)!!

Maddox was very happy with finding one rock - did not need to search for more. And don't take his rock away when you're trying to pan for more!!

Brock had a blast - and even commented "it was better than the last place because you could get cooler rocks." (A review by a six year old)

Uncle Brian was getting in to the rock momentum - even picked up a geode to crack at the end!

Was Maddox impressed or not?

We returned back to the mountain house for more fun...... stay tuned for Part II!
