Mahi Season!

Special Guest Blogger: Brent M. Eason

The view at 5:30 in the morning, leaving the Anchorage Marina on Atlantic Beach.

After crossing the Beaufort Inlet, smooth ride to my secret spot. It's not a quick ride to catch the fish. Roughly 45 miles each way to the fishing grounds.

Quick video testing my auto-pilot.

Warship off in the distance - about 4 miles away.

This is my radar and auto-pilot, working together.

Here's the video on the first catch of the day. Need to remember to point the GoPro down.

Mahi in box.

It was a good day.

Brock's Preschool Graduation

We are SO proud of Brock! He has learned so much this year - crazy circumstances, but overall, I am so glad we enrolled him in 5-day preschool at Goddard.

Brock's graduation day was a gorgeous, sunny day held at a cute park building on the water - Bass Lake Park.

All the kiddos were color coordinated wearing navy bottoms with a white shirt - he looked so handsome!

The event was really sweet - the children showed off everything they learned that year - word letter combinations, songs, even yoga poses! Each child got to do something special during the presentation - my little boy was the flag holder during the pledge of allegiance!

Video of one of their songs....

Then it was time for their diplomas! Brock posing with his teacher - Ms. Melissa.

And some of the friends he's made....

I know he's sad that he won't be starting kindergarten in the same elementary school with really any of these children, but I truly have no doubt that he'll make good friends at the next school.

We love you Brock and we are so excited to see how much you will learn in your next year of school!!

Mommy/Brock Date - May Edition

First off, earlier this particular week, poor Brock rolled out of his bed, only first slamming his head in to the side of his nightstand. He woke up crying and by the time I ran in to his room, his face was covered in blood! Pitiful sight! He was so tired, tried to get back to sleep, but he had really bumped his head and every time he rolled over on his side, he started crying because it hurt so much. Poor little man! Needless to say, he accompanied me to work (this also happened to be a fishing day for Brent) for the morning until the doctor's office opened.

Two days later, that was a SERIOUS black eye. He must have hit it HARD!

Okay, time for some play time! I took Brock to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh - the one with the big dinosaur inside! He wasn't quite feeling it (thought we were headed to Marbles - a super fun hands on museum, but without Kade and only having a few hours, I couldn't justify the $$). I know, I'm cheap.

This museum is FREE and there's plenty to see and do!! Without Kade, we got to enter a real science lab and do EXPERIMENTS! Brock's teacher said he really has an interest in all science activities and I can see that at home too.

First we used a micropipette with colored water to design a picture (above).

Then we experimented with acids and bases (and their smells) to test the ph levels. He called one of them - said it smelled like eggs!

This was the best part! Time for lunch! Brock actually asked for pancakes.... figured this was the next best thing.

Super cute place - I'll need to take Brent. Small and definitely cozy - no physical menus - just a chalk board menu up on the wall. We ordered the signature waffles and chicken with a side of honey - just one order to split. Brock was hesitant at first to dip his waffles in the honey, but once he did..... it was on!

And if the pictures don't do it justice..... here's a video showing how big of a hit this lunch was! The biscuits were AMAZING too!! Loooove the North Carolina southern cookin'!

Cousin Time in.... May

Yes, I know we're running a bit behind on this blog - trying to catch up! Here's some cute pictures of an almost 9 month old Maddox!

"Hey Kade - stop watching tv and play with me!" OR "Sorry cuz, you do not have Topar legs like me!"

Super cute cousin time!!

I had to post the picture below only because it showcases Maddox's most awesome attribute - his legs!!

Now big cousin Brock is playing with Maddox - he was doing a great job of helping get him toys and keeping him entertained!

What's this?? Feeding time too? Such a good helper!

Maddox was probably thrilled with whoever was holding the spoon. ;)

And here's a quick video of Diesel singing.... we haven't heard him sing in a long time. I guess he thought Kade's "crying" was just the right frequency!! Too funny and memorable not to post. ;)

Mother's Day Weekend

On the Friday before Mother's Day, Brock and Kade's preschool hosted a Mother's Day "Tea." This would be my last with Brock (at least for preschool days), so I figured I'd take a few hours off so I could see my big boy's presentations!

They were super cute! The class sang two songs to the moms that were able to attend - they all were so excited! I'm working on being more present, but also felt obligated to get it on video. I compromised with recording one quick snippet of the first song, but put it away for the second. :)

My Brock looking a little unsure of all this attention.

When his friends asked for a group photo, he was all smiles then!

Of course the two class parties were about 5 hours apart, so after some "mom errands," back to the school I went to visit Kade for his Mother's Day Tea Party.

Thinking about how this was going to go down, if you had to ask me which one of my children would be Mr. Shy Guy and not participate in the class song, hands down it would have been Brock. They like to keep me on my toes - it was Kade!

For the entire "presentation," Kade huddled in the corner while the rest of his class sang the songs. I just want to mention - he LOVES his songs. We know all the songs at home because he knows all the words and sings them all the time! This was a surprise!

Oh Kade, you are too funny!

When it was time for snack, he chippered right back up!

When he wants to eat, he is a quick eater!!

The best part of the day was the awesome Mother's Day card Brock made for me! I LOVE this!

On Saturday, we were off to another Teeball game!

Mother's Day weekend we were signed up to bring the snacks.... or Brent needed an excuse to show off his new cooler. Kade enjoyed having somewhere to sit [that wasn't scary like the bleachers]!

Mother's Day was tough this year..... I was going to focus on my own children and enjoy it as much as I could. And enjoy a breakfast at Cracker Barrel..... my children had other plans.

They were okay at breakfast and up to the actual meal. Usually full bellies make happy kids.... not that day! It was a tough parenting day.

Eh, you win some, you lose some. Good thing they are cute.

Happy Mother's Day to me in my new Lilly Pulitzer dress. ;)
