Kade's Spring Soccer

Kade once again took part in the local town's spring rec soccer league, joining the Wolverines - and two kiddos from last season's team!

After a few weeks of warm-ups and drills, Saturday soccer games kicked off with full-on excitement! Leading his team, Kade almost always was selected as a Forward!

Practices were a full hour long in the evening and I discovered that Pleasant Park has a great sidewalk loop for me to get a work-out in too!

Moose accompanied me on a night early in Spring when it wasn't too hot.

He enjoyed watching Kade from the off-field sidelines.

Kade wore Jersey #3 this year.

We were blessed with some really great weather overall! The rainy cooler spring was a welcome relief from the humid hot days typical of the piedmont!

Here's a video of Kade showing off his fancy footwork!

Another fun tidbit - for years, I watched all these other soccer parents bring out these fancy chairs with a built-in awning/covering while I juggled holding an umbrella to shield from the sun.... this year, Brent upgraded our chairs. What a world of difference! So much better! (You can see it at the top of the picture below)

Another weekday practice, another 2 mile walk! This practice was right after a rain shower, so you can faintly see a rainbow just over the playground through the trees. Alas, so much better in person.

Kade is sometimes called in to take a goalie kick because he can kick it the hardest... this one came right back to our goal and was a little close for comfort.

This game, Kade had the honor of serving as team co-captain!

Pretty blue skies!

Get that ball Kade!

End of the season and we are headed to the tournament! We placed 14th out of 16 teams with a record of 0-6-2. Not the best, but at least not the worst!

The Wolverines played the very best game they ever played! I couldn't believe it! They looked amazing! Kade even had a breakaway shot on goal where he missed it by inches!! I couldn't get my camera up fast enough, so sorry this is from far away! Goalie is in greenish jersey to the left (inside goal box), Kade is next player to the right and ball is just on the left outside post.

Kade with a throw-in!

Super impressive! With a team of only SIX players, they were able to defeat the third place team with a score of 3-1! Moving on to the second round!!

I didn't take too many pictures of the second round game.... two days later and with different players. Sadly, the team struggled to find their rhythm and ended the match with a disappointing 0–5 loss.

Even though exhausted (see below), they still had fun! Thanks Wolverines! See you in the Fall!
