Mommy/Brock Date - May Edition

First off, earlier this particular week, poor Brock rolled out of his bed, only first slamming his head in to the side of his nightstand. He woke up crying and by the time I ran in to his room, his face was covered in blood! Pitiful sight! He was so tired, tried to get back to sleep, but he had really bumped his head and every time he rolled over on his side, he started crying because it hurt so much. Poor little man! Needless to say, he accompanied me to work (this also happened to be a fishing day for Brent) for the morning until the doctor's office opened.

Two days later, that was a SERIOUS black eye. He must have hit it HARD!

Okay, time for some play time! I took Brock to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh - the one with the big dinosaur inside! He wasn't quite feeling it (thought we were headed to Marbles - a super fun hands on museum, but without Kade and only having a few hours, I couldn't justify the $$). I know, I'm cheap.

This museum is FREE and there's plenty to see and do!! Without Kade, we got to enter a real science lab and do EXPERIMENTS! Brock's teacher said he really has an interest in all science activities and I can see that at home too.

First we used a micropipette with colored water to design a picture (above).

Then we experimented with acids and bases (and their smells) to test the ph levels. He called one of them - said it smelled like eggs!

This was the best part! Time for lunch! Brock actually asked for pancakes.... figured this was the next best thing.

Super cute place - I'll need to take Brent. Small and definitely cozy - no physical menus - just a chalk board menu up on the wall. We ordered the signature waffles and chicken with a side of honey - just one order to split. Brock was hesitant at first to dip his waffles in the honey, but once he did..... it was on!

And if the pictures don't do it justice..... here's a video showing how big of a hit this lunch was! The biscuits were AMAZING too!! Loooove the North Carolina southern cookin'!
